The very first equestrian statue dedicated to the famous musketeer stands in the Place d’Artagnan in Lupiac in the Gers department. In the heart of the village of Lupiac, you have the opportunity to admire this imposing work created in bronze by sculptor Daphné Du Barry. Erected on 9 August 2015, this monumental statue of d’Artagnan was funded by the Grassa family, a Gascon family, as a contribution to Lupiac’s heritage. The life-size statue took 18 months to complete, bringing to life d’Artagnan on horseback, standing 3.50 metres tall and weighing over a tonne. His lively, dynamic presence is made possible by meticulous details such as spurs, lace and the musketeers’ cross.
