Jour J (D-Day) Le Dernier Mousquetaire
Publisher: Delcourt
Jour J (D-Day) is a series of uchronistic comics in which the scriptwriters take a real historical event and change its outcome, imagining different alternative versions of history.
Tome 1 :
In autumn 1651, while fleeing Paris in the midst of the Fronde des Princes, the young King Louis XIV was attacked and killed by brigands. D’Artagnan, the musketeer charged with protecting the royal family, is devastated by this failure. A few days later, the Prince of Condé won the Battle of Cognac, giving France to the Spanish. Twenty years passed, and Cardinal Mazarin, now in exile, tried to muster his last strength to take back the country. He then calls on his most trusted man, d’Artagnan, now master-at-arms and last of the musketeers, to deliver a crucial message.
Volume 2:
On the ramparts of the fortress of Belle-Île, d’Artagnan, Portau and Aramitz recall their past exploits with the nostalgia of old soldiers. The last representatives of a corps of musketeers that is now heavier than it is formidable, they share, like d’Artagnan, a tenacious grudge against the Spaniards. It’s time for them to return the favour and finally settle this old feud!
