The Three Musketeer
1911 (United States)
In 1911, Thomas Edison produced a short silent film in two parts. The film presents a condensed version of the adventures of Athos, Porthos, Aramis and the young d’Artagnan, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the novel.
Although few traces of the film survive today, its impact remains significant in the history of film adaptations and the evolution of the action-adventure genre in cinema.
For the record, the role of d’Artagnan is played by Sydney Booth, who was the nephew of John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of President Lincoln (14 April 1865).
